Exploring Canada: A Traveller's Journal
Born and raised in Canada, I have always had a deep appreciation for its beauty and diversity. This passion has inspired me to explore the history, culture, and roots that have shaped this incredible country. I have been fortunate to travel across various regions, from my home province of Ontario to the east coast, visiting Quebec, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, all the way to the west coast city of Vancouver, British Columbia. Each journey has been an opportunity to immerse myself in nature, delve into history, unwind on beautiful beaches, and indulge in some of the finest cuisine Canada has to offer.
British Columbia: Nature's Playground

My journey through British Columbia was a peaceful escape. In Vancouver, I wandered through the lush greenery of Stanley Park, marveling at its towering trees and breathtaking waterfront views. The adventure continued at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, where I walked high above the forest canopy. As someone who isn’t fond of heights, it was both terrifying and exhilarating, but the beauty of the landscape made it all worthwhile.
Granville Island was another highlight—a vibrant waterfront district rich in industrial and maritime heritage. Little did I know that I would end up bringing home a whole fresh salmon on ice as my carry-on! But really, what better souvenir from British Columbia than some of the best seafood in the world?
Ontario: The Beauty of Day Trips
Back home in Ontario, I have taken countless scenic day trips to its stunning beaches, where the simple joy of skipping stones and watching the waves can make any day feel perfect. I've explored charming small towns like Almonte, famously known as the setting for many Hallmark Christmas movies, and visited wine country in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Prince Edward County.
One of my most memorable experiences was boarding the Agawa Canyon Tour Train in Sault Ste. Marie. As the train wound its way through the wilderness, I watched the breathtaking beauty of Northern Ontario unfold before me—a true hidden gem.
Weekend Getaways: Ottawa, Montreal & Quebec City

Some of my best travel memories come from quick weekend getaways. Ottawa never fails to impress with its historic landmarks and the bustling ByWard Market. Montreal, with its vibrant energy, mouthwatering food, and old-world charm, keeps drawing me back time and time again. And then there’s Quebec City—a place that feels like stepping into a different era, with its cobblestone streets, rich history, and the magical glow of Château Frontenac illuminating the night sky.
Road Trips to the Maritimes: PEI & Nova Scotia

One of my most cherished travel experiences was road-tripping through the Maritimes. I fulfilled a childhood dream in Prince Edward Island by visiting Anne of Green Gables. Driving along the island’s eastern coastline, I stopped at picturesque lighthouses. I enjoyed the best chowder and mussels while experiencing ocean-floor dining at Point Prim Chowder House.

Our adventure in Nova Scotia began with a ferry ride across the Bay of Fundy into Digby, where we stayed in a charming bed and breakfast and sampled their world-famous scallops—yes, even on eggs Benedict! We then journeyed along Nova Scotia’s rugged west coast, stopping at historic sites like Port Royal, visiting scenic lighthouses, and taking in the colourful waterfront of Lunenburg. Of course, no visit to Nova Scotia would be complete without experiencing the peaceful charm of Peggy’s Cove—a place that truly leaves a lasting impression. Halifax was another highlight with its incredible food scene and warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of city that feels like home, making it hard to leave.
My Canadian Travel Bucket List
Even after all these adventures, my Canadian bucket list continues to grow. High on my list is witnessing the stunning alpine beauty of Lake Louise and Banff and experiencing the excitement of the Calgary Stampede—how could I miss the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth"? Another dream is visiting the Yukon, where I hope to see the Northern Lights, explore endless stretches of wilderness, and uncover the fascinating history of the Gold Rush. And, of course, no list would be complete without a trip to Newfoundland, where I plan to go whale-watching and soak in the province’s rugged coastal beauty.
